Balfour Declaration (1917) "A promise from someone who does not own to someone who does not deserve." was a letter of British support towards Lord Rothschild for the Zionist aim of establishing a Jewish state in Palestine, which at that point of time was already inhabited by the natives. It was highly controversial as the declaration was made by an European power regarding a non-European territory in flat disregard of both the presence and wishes of the native majority in the territory. Upon the start of the mandate, the British facilitated the immigration of European Jews to Palestine. The British disarmed the Palestinian people from 1936-1939 during the 'Great Arab Revolt' whilst turning a blind eye to illegal immigration by European Jews and their procurement of arms, greatly hindering the Palestinians in the future Arab-Israeli War. More recently, research conducted by Birzeit University, mostly on the basis of interviews with former residents, suggests that between 60-70 residents were killed during the attack.

In 2013, testimony provided to Zochrot, Yerachmiel Kahanovich, a Palmach soldier present on the scene, stated he himself, amid the shelling of a mosque, had fired a PIAT anti-tank missile with enormous shock wave impact inside the mosque where Palestinians were taking refuge in, and on examining it afterwards found the walls scattered with the remains of people. He also stated that anyone straying from the flight trail was shot dead. This event was also confirmed by Binyamin Roski who was also a Palmach soldier from the Yiftach Brigade. According to Morris, dozens died in the mosque, including unarmed men, women and children; an eyewitness published a memoir in 1998 saying he had removed 95 bodies from one of the mosques. Dr. Klaus Dreyer of the IDF Medical Corps complained on 15 July (3 days later) that there were still corpses lying in and around Lydda, which constituted a health hazard and a "moral and aesthetic issue."

Thomas Hurndall (27 November 1981 – 13 January 2004) was a British photography student, a volunteer for the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), and an activist against the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. On 11 April 2003, he was shot in the head in the Gaza Strip by an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) sniper, Taysir Hayb. Hurndall was left in a coma and died nine months later.

An Israeli army officer who fired the entire magazine of his automatic rifle into a 13-year-old Palestinian girl and then said he would have done the same even if she had been three years old was acquitted on all charges by a military court yesterday. This facility, however, has a different clientele: Holocaust survivors.

New footage has emerged of the Israeli assault on a convoy of aid ships headed to Gaza in which nine activists were killed. The high-quality film was reportedly recorded by New York-based documentary maker Iara Lee aboard the Mavi Marmara, the Turkish ship that bore the brunt of the Israeli attacks. Israel attempted to confiscate all footage recorded by participants in the Gaza Freedom flotilla – including taking away mobile phones – but Lee managed to smuggle one hour of video out of the country by hiding it in her underwear, it was reported.

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli rights group B'Tselem on Thursday released video footage in which a Palestinian is brutally assaulted before being wrongfully detained near al-Bireh earlier this month. Ansar Aasi, 25, was working in the storeroom of a cleaning products company during clashes in the area on Oct. 6 when at least three Israeli soldiers spotted him and began violently kicking him and beating him with their rifles, before he was detained. Aasi was taken to Hadassh hospital for medical treatment a day later for injuries sustained in the attack. He was then held in detention for two days before being interrogated on accusations of stone-throwing, having been identified by three Israeli soldiers, according to police interrogators. Aasi denied the charges, and was only freed after Israeli police finally viewed the CCTV footage taken from the storeroom where he worked, which proved his alibi. He was released on Oct. 11 after five days in detention

An eight-year-old Palestinian girl who was run over by an Israeli settler in the occupied West Bank was buried on Sunday. Aseel Abu ‘Oun was killed a day earlier by a settler who drove his car near where she lived in the Foroush Beit Dajan village, in the Nablus district. She was leaving a supermarket around noon with a friend when she was struck. Haaretz, the Israeli daily newspaper, reported that police detained the driver of the vehicle for questioning. Police said they opened an investigation, Haaretz reported, but did not specify whether the settler had been released.

An Ontario physician who works at the London Health Sciences Centre has been shot in the leg while delivering emergency medicine to protesters on the Gaza Strip. Dr. Tarek Loubani said it happened during a "lull" in the protest Monday, as he was standing with a group of paramedics about 25 metres away from the protest area. "There were no fires, there was no smoke. We had clear lines of sight to all three fortified sniper posts," said Loubani. "All of the sudden I heard a bang, and I found myself on the ground. I looked at my leg, I saw blood."

A group of Israeli settlers was documented Saturday hurling rocks at a Palestinian family in a West Bank village, but none of them were arrested.

Osama Hajahjeh, 16, said he was unarmed and walking home from a funeral in the West Bank village of Tekoa when he was grabbed by soldiers. He claimed he became confused as they bound him while shouting in Hebrew and Arabic, leading him to walk away before he was shot high in both legs.

A Palestinian child who was riding his bicycle near his village in the southern part of the West Bank was hit by an unknown Israeli settler and killed on Monday. Tariq Zebania, 7 years old, was from Tarqumia, west of Hebron, and was riding his bicycle by the settlement road near his town. He was struck by a car driven by an Israeli settler who headed into the ‘Adhoura’ settlement after hitting the boy.

Security forces moved in to Sur Baher, on the edge of East Jerusalem, to tear down buildings said to house 17 people. Residents said they had been given permits to build by the Palestinian Authority, and accused Israel of an attempt to grab West Bank land. But Israel's Supreme Court ruled that they had violated a construction ban.

Israeli police raided a coronavirus testing clinic in the East Jerusalem Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan and arrested its organizers on Tuesday night because the clinic was operated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority. A new video has surfaced showing Israel Border Police systematically beating and kicking Palestinians who were detained for crossing into Israeli territory from the West Bank. The Border Police also aimed their weapons at the Palestinian detainees.
